The Stories Behind the Spaces at Big Antler
Big Antler is shaped by the people behind the spaces — makers and collectors who bring care, curiosity, and lived experience into the space. While each cabinet, shelf or space look different, they are connected by a shared respect for craftsmanship, history, and thoughtful making.
Some stories begin with hands-on creation.
Evelyn comes from a science background and brings a thoughtful, ingredient-focused approach to her handmade products. Balancing life as a mother of three with her passion for natural care, she has developed a gentle range that includes room sprays, candles, creams, and lip balms. Her camel milk soap has become a favourite, loved for its softness and everyday simplicity.
Alongside this is another expression of handmade creativity. Alana, the maker behind Sparkling Dragon, creates jewellery that is warm, expressive, and full of colour. Each piece is individually made, celebrating imagination and individuality. Her work brings a playful energy to the space and offers something joyful, bold, and unmistakably handmade.
Others are drawn to adornment and design shaped by time. Nat’s vintage jewellery collection is carefully curated, chosen for character, age, and quiet elegance. Each piece carries its own history, selected with a thoughtful eye and offered as something to be worn, loved, and passed on.
Clothing tells its own stories too. Tex & Daisy Vintage Clothing specialises in pure, original vintage for both men and women. Every garment is chosen for authenticity, quality, and timeless style — pieces that have lived before and are ready to be worn again. Their collection reflects a genuine appreciation for vintage fashion, free from reproductions or trends, offering clothing with real history and character.
For some visitors, the pull is sound and story. Mark’s comics stall is filled with illustrated worlds, characters, and narratives that span decades, curated with knowledge and enthusiasm. Nearby, Paul’s record stall brings together music across genres and eras — from well-loved vinyl to collectible finds — offering moments of nostalgia and rediscovery.
Big Antler is also home to collectors whose passion comes from genuine curiosity. One of our antique sellers, Sue, collects purely for interest and enjoyment. Her space reflects a love for history and craftsmanship, and conversations with her often drift naturally into stories behind the objects she has gathered.
At another stall, a different Sue brings more than fifty years of experience as a collector and reseller. Her depth of knowledge comes from decades spent learning, handling, and understanding antiques. Browsing her space often becomes an education in itself, shaped by insight, memory, and a lifelong connection to collecting.
For those who enjoy depth and context, Gregory’s cabinet — often full of surprises — is shaped by stall holder Shane’s work at the Melbourne Museum, where he works with bugs and natural history collections. A passionate collector at heart, he brings curiosity and care to every piece, presenting antiques with research, respect, and a quiet sense of discovery.
These are just a handful of the stories you’ll encounter at Big Antler. There are many more stallholders who bring their own passions, knowledge, and creativity into the space, each contributing to the character and richness of our shop in their own way.
Together, these stories create the rhythm of Big Antler. Space evolve, new finds arrive, and no two visits feel quite the same. What remains constant is the passion behind the displays and the sense of community that grows from it.
Big Antler is more than a place to browse. It’s a shared space where making, collecting, and curiosity meet — and where every cabinet, space and shelf reflects the person behind it.
